In the southern French city of Marseille, the consortium made up of Dumez Méditerranée (VINCI Construction France) and Freyssinet France, a subsidiary of Soletanche Freyssinet (VINCI Construction), took part in the construction of the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (MuCEM). EMOC (the public cultural works contracting authority) awarded to the consortium the foundation, structural work, metal frame and waterproofing works package for the 15,000 sq. metre building located on the  J4  Jetty near the Fort Saint-Jean.

Designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti, the MuCEM is the first structure on this scale built of ultra high performance fibre reinforced concrete (UHPFRC), a new material that can be cast without reinforcement and has outstanding strength, ductility and durability characteristics.
