Main contracting works for a mega shopping complex in the city centre of Kuala Lumpur.

Bachy Soletanche (BSG Construction Malaysia Sdn Bhd) has just been awarded with his partner GRK two contracts for the construction of the substructure for a mega shopping complex including an IKEA, a shopping centre with provision for future residential tower blocks at the city centre of Kuala Lumpur.

Bachy Soletanche’s works start immediately and will last 14 months. The works include 1,325 lm of perimeter retaining wall, 700,000 m3 of earthworks and 92,000 m2 of raft foundation. Specialist works such as piles, micropiles and ground anchors as well as perimeter grouting in rock and karstic cavity filling, will be required.

The project was awarded on the basis of Bachy Soletanche’s innovative and alternative retaining wall design using prebored H-piles.

The bulk excavation will involve considerable blasting to overcome the shallow limestone formations with a section of the site above the newly constructed MRT tunnels.
