Céline, site manager, Melbourne

"Working as an expatriate, you learn fast"

Trained as a geological engineer, Céline joined Soletanche Bachy in 2010, beginning her career on foundation projects in the United Arab Emirates. In 2012 she moved to Australia, where she has been given more responsibility. "Working as an expatriate you learn fast, and this gives you the ability to respond to unexpected situations."

She is currently serving as site manager on the Webb Dock West project in the port of Melbourne, where she acts as liaison between the client and the teams and manages schedules, budget, subcontractors and suppliers.

"You are more isolated when you work abroad, and you need initiative to keep projects moving forward, but the local management keeps a close eye on your career and your progress."
