“Forging ties with future users”
In Qatar, stakeholder communication (with local residents, local authorities, etc.) is a new development. Usually, construction worksites are confined to a limited area and few local residents are affected.
But on the Doha metro Red Line South project, stakeholders are a major focus because the worksite stretches across the entire city and construction activities unfold 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are called on to close off streets, work with the police to draw up traffic plans that mitigate our trucks’ impact on general traffic, and meet with the people living in the residential neighbourhoods where we will be working around the clock.
Since today’s residents are tomorrow’s riders, it’s a good idea to reach out to them now and foster a positive image of the metro among them.
