""A nickel factory in New Caledonia, a motorway in Greece, a water treatment plant in Ireland, a dam in Indonesia: for nearly 20 years, I have been working on major projects far away from mainland France. I am currently Works Director on Section D of the Tours-Bordeaux high-speed rail line. The special aspect of this section is that it has been entirely sub-contracted to large French building and civil engineering companies.
Since my experience is on the export market, I am not necessarily up to speed on the way these companies operate, but my job is to get all the teams moving in the same direction to carry out the project. This means that I need to make us of what each of them contributes, adapt to unforeseen situations and show great humility in coping with the events that occur on a worksite as it progresses.""
